Voter ID Application Status – SMS, Call & Online

The Voter ID card or Electors Photo ID card (EPIC) is identification card which is issued by the Election Commission to all the citizens of India above the age of 18 years in order to vote and practice their democratic rights. It also serves as general identity, address and age proof for other purposes from buying SIM card to applying for a passport.

A voter ID card consists of personal details such as date of birth and address of the card holder. The card also has a serial number, a hologram sticker, and stamped signature of the issuing authority.

Once applied you can also check your voter ID application status and there are three ways through which you can do so:

  • Checking Voter ID application status online using official website
  • Checking Voter ID application status via Mobile or SMS
  • Checking Voter ID application status via Call


  1. Checking Voter ID application status online using official website

To make the procedure much easier, government of India is offering online method of checking application status of the voter ID card. Follow the below mentioned steps to apply for a voters ID card online:

  • Visit the official website of National Voter’s Service Portal i.e. (you can also track the status of your application form on your respective states CEO website)

  • Click on “Track Application Status” option

  • Provide reference id (you will find the reference ID on the acknowledgement you have received after successfully submitting the voter ID application)

  • Click on “Track Status”

  • If you have provided correct reference ID, the status of your Voter ID application will be displayed on screen


  1. Checking Voter ID application status via Mobile or SMS

If you are not well – versed with internet, you can still check the status of your application via SMS. Follow the below mentioned steps for the same:

  • Type EPIC <Space> followed by the Voter’s ID Application Number

  • And you will receive the status of your application

  • The number to which this SMS has to be sent varies from one Electoral Officer to another

If you wish to make a call to know the status of your application, you can do that as well.

Call on 1950 which is a toll – free number and the instructions are given in Hindi as well as English and few other languages as well.

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has launched IFSC codes which stand for Indian Financial System Code. This code was introduced by the RBI in order to ensure security and safety of the transactions. IFSC Code also helps in indentifying the bank and branch where the account of the beneficiary is held. RBI has also mandated IFSC code for different bank transactions. The IFSC code helps in recognizing each and every bank and its branches separately. The IFSC Codes follow two payment and settlement systems in India which are as follows:

(a)  RTGS (Real Time Gross Settlement)

(b)NEFT (National Electronic Fund Transfer)

IFSC Code is 11- digit code assigned by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) to every bank as a part of NEFT / RTGS.

In IFS Code

(a) First four characters identify the bank name i.e. CBIN

(b) The fifth character is always 0

(c) And the last character represents the branch address i.e. 282331

[The IFS code used in above example is of Shakthi Towers, 766, Anna Salai, Chennai i.e., “CBIN0282331”].
